Our annual blessing of Jamaica Pond took place this year on the Feast of Theophany January 19, 2014.
Bishop Gregory and Father Dimitry, along with Deacons Savas and Samuel, blessed the frigid waters as the faithful braved the cold and biting wind to make our annual pilgrimage to nearby Jamaica Pond. The slope down to the shore was a little icy but all made it safely to the water’s edge and received another year’s blessing on the frozen banks.
A festive and delicious brunch followed back at the church hall where Aristy and Manolis prepared an amazing spread of breakfast goodies for everyone. Cups of hot coffee and eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, bagels, cream cheese, breakfast pastries warmed, and filled, us right up. It was a lovely afternoon spent in prayer and Orthodox Christian fellowship. God grant us to return again next year!
